The Pioneer Telephone Board of Trustees and the Scholarship Committee are pleased to announce the scholarship recipients for 2009-2010. A total of 215 scholarships totaling $649,927.27 have been awarded since the inception of the Scholarship Program in 1991.
The College Scholarship Program is offered to qualified applicants of all Junior/Senior college-level university majors, with priority consideration given to education majors in the areas of math, science, computer science and foreign language. Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc., proposes to award one college scholarship per Board District per year to qualified applicants. The son, daughter or legal dependent of a subscriber of Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc., shall be eligible for consideration of one of up to 12 college scholarships to be awarded each year. The son, daughter or legal dependent of an Employee of Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc., shall only be eligible for consideration of the one (1) scholarship awarded by the Thirteenth District-At-Large of the Cooperative each year. Each college scholarship(s) awarded will provide $1,000 per semester for tuition and/or books for a maximum of $2,000 per year.
The Technology Center Scholarship Program is offered to qualified applicants who are a subscriber of Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc., or the son, daughter, or legal dependent of a subscriber. Each Technology Center Scholarship awarded will provide $1,000 toward the cost of one (1) program. Qualified students wishing to attend a Technology Center within the service area of Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc., are entitled to participate. Applicants must be a subscriber of Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc., or the son, daughter or legal dependent of a subscriber.
A subscriber is defined as a member of the Cooperative who receives their “landline” telephone service from the Cooperative. Having service from Pioneer by virtue of a cell phone, Internet, Long Distance, DTV, Security Alarms or Business Solutions does not meet the requirements for consideration. Those services are provided by Pioneer’s subsidiaries, not the Cooperative itself.
We will begin accepting applications for 2010-2011 school year in January, 2010. The deadline for submitting an application for the 2010-2011 school year is July 1, 2010.
