The following telephone assistance programs are supported in Oklahoma:
Everyone should have access to quality, affordable telecommunications service. This principle of “Universal Service” has been the goal of the telecommunications industry for decades. Assistance programs are available to make telephone service more affordable for eligible customers. With Pioneer Telephone’s Lifeline service, discounted telephone service is available to anyone who participates in certain government assistance programs or has a household income below a certain level. Qualified subscribers living on Tribal lands may receive telephone service for as little as $1.00 per month. • Enhanced Lifeline, a larger discount off of monthly local telephone service for qualified subscribers living on Tribal lands.
• Link Up, a program that reduces the cost of initiating service for qualified subscribers living on Tribal lands.
• Toll Limitation, a service that allows you to control your long distance charges.
Lifeline service and Toll Limitation are offered to all customers of Pioneer Telephone who qualify. Link Up and Enhanced Lifeline are available to qualified Pioneer Telephone customers living on Tribal lands. You may qualify if you participate in any of the following programs: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP a/k/a Food Stamps), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medical Assistance (Medicaid/SoonerCare), Vocational Rehabilitation (including aid to the hearing impaired), Oklahoma Sales Tax Relief, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or if your total household income is at or less than 135% of the federal poverty level (If your documentation of income does not cover a full year, then you must provide income documentation that covers three consecutive months within the last year.). If you reside on Tribal lands, you may qualify by participating in any of the following additional programs: National School Lunch Program (only applicant or customer who satisfies the income standard of the program for free meals), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Tribally-administered block grant programs, or Head Start Programs (only applicant or customer who satisfies the income qualifying eligibility provision).
To receive Lifeline discounts from Pioneer Telephone you must reside within Pioneer Telephone’s service area, and you must either participate in one of the eligible programs or meet the household income criteria. Lifeline eligibility must be verified annually. Lifeline is a federal government benefit program and only qualified persons may participate. Lifeline service may not be transferred to any other individual. Applicants must present documentation of household income or participation in qualifying programs.
